Marshall Bautz
Associate Director, Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research
Marshall Bautz is the Associate Director of the MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research, where is he also a Senior Research Scientist. He has been developing instruments for X-ray astronomy and associated detector technology for more than 30 years. In the course of this work he has supported space missions developed by NASA , the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency, and the European Space Agency, and worked to adapt technology developed at federally funded research laboratories to scientific purposes. His scientific interests focus on the high-energy astrophysics of clusters of galaxies.
